about

Big Mug was the final single lifted from It's All Fun & Games Til Someone Loses An Eye. It had a very different vibe ...much mellower ...to it compared with the earlier Murgatroid singles and the lead track itself is much different from the way I'd imagined it'd be. The original demo -which appeared on the b-side of She'll Be Sorry a couple of years earlier -was much more (probably too much more) energetic and full on whereas this version is a lot more laid back. It took me a while to warm to the idea when it was suggested we strip it down but I could see the logic in it as the recording came together.

lyrics

I'm looking down at you on the floor
wondering who's the mug here
Or who's the mugger more.

I'm looking down at you on the floor
wondering who's more broken
or who's more bloody sore.

I got you one year and you were so dear
you nearly brought me to tears.
I didn't use you at all. In the press by the wall. then you had to fall.

I'm looking down at you all in bits
wondering who's the mug here
wondering who the tag fits

I'm looking down at you all in bits
wondering who's more broken
or who's the worse for it.

How time has passed, the years go so fast.
I knew you couldn't last.
Then you had to go and let yourself flow
and let yourself flow

I'm looking down at you in your box
wondering who's the mug here
wondering if this is mock.
I'm looking down at you in your box
wondering who's more broken
wondering who's been more rocked.

I'm looking down at you on the floor
wondering who's the mug here
Or who's the mugger more.

I'm looking down at you on the floor
wondering who's more broken
or who's more bloody sore.
